Along with the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Qualcomm has unveiled Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor and the same is a new entry under the Snapdragon 7 series that will power mid-range devices. The chipset is also featuring many first features.
The newly announced Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile processor is based on a 4nm process and the same features four Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores. The chipset is also featuring Adreno 662 GPU and the same is coming with 20% faster performance than its previous generation.
It is also featuring an X62 5G modem and the same can offer 4.4Gbps download speeds and dual 5G. The chip also supports WiFi-6E and Bluetooth 5.3 along with Snapdragon Sound and aptX support.
The chipset features up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 supports up to 60Hz QHD+ or 144Hz FHD+ display.
It is also featuring a single 200MP sensor, 64MP + 20MP sensors, and three 25MP sensors. The chip also offers three 14-bit ISPs that can capture 720p video at 480 fps and 4K HDR video at 30 fps. Moreover, it can support HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG formats.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 comes with Android SE and a Trusted Management Engine and the same promises optimal security for digital keys and wallets. It is compatible with modern-day navigation satellites such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, and dual-frequency GNSS.
Qualcomm has confirmed that smartphones from Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor will offer devices with the newly announced processor in 2022. It is worth mentioning that Oppo Reno 8 Pro is expected to be the first phone with the SoC on May 23rd.
