Samsung Announced 43MP Slim Camera Sensor

Samsung is hugely evolving in the camera department of smartphones. Recently they jumped to 64MP game from the popular 48MP trend which was going around the industry from last few months. Though we are seeing the numbers of megapixel count going more upwards, Samsung has a new sensor keeping in mind a different scenario.

Today Samsung has announced their new ISOCELL SLIM GH1 camera sensor. This sensor is built for slim smartphones having full sized display. As this sensor is very tiny in size, it will be easy to place in a smartphone having slim form factor with full sized display. This is a 43MP sensor with world’s smallest 0.7μm pixel size for any smartphone sensor. By default this will shoot images with 10.9MP resolution by pixel binning, which will also combine the pixel size to large 1.4μm to intake more light.

It has real-time HDR mode for high contrast images. The video recording is supported up to 4k at 60fps. And as the company says this is without cropping the frame like some other sensors. For stability in videos it has EIS as well. For better focusing there’s Super Phase Detection Autofocus. Lastly, the company says that it will go on mass production by the end of this year.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. This ISOCELL SLIM GH1 looks like a premium midrange sensor with some features like 4k at 60fps. That’s why expect this sensor to arrive in 2020 Galaxy A series smartphones. What are your thoughts on this new sensor by Samsung? Let us know in the comment section below.
