The Samsung Developer Conference began yesterday. The company revealed its Cloud Gaming Platform for Tizen TVs in the keynote address.
Cloud gaming is slowly trending now since big players such as Xbox’s xCloud, Google’s Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce Now, and Amazon’s Luna are prominent in the entertainment category. Samsung is now ready to join the trend with the new cloud gaming platform, starting with its Tizen-powered smart TVs.
However, Samsung has not revealed any details after the announcement. We don’t know how it will work or what games will be available on the new service yet. On the other hand, Samsung has revealed some other plans for Tizen TVs.
- Video communication – Samsung says a partnership with Google will allow users to enjoy better video calling on TVs via AI-enabled focus and zoom features.
- Samsung Health – Smart TVs with a webcam will be able to analyze a user’s movement during a workout and provide real-time feedback.
- HDR10+ for realistic gaming – Tizen TVs will also feature HDR10+ with automated settings for low-latency and HDR calibration.
Samsung later announced that the company will also launch “Tizen for Business”, a service which supports interactive e-boards in schools and kiosks as well as displays in places such as restaurants, airport, and train stations. This technology allows real-time monitoring and easy settings to mutilple devices with a single, simple touch.
Non-Samsung Tizen Tvs are coming
Meanwhile, Samsung also plans to license Tizen to other TV manfucaturers.This will be called “Tizen TV Platform Licensing”. It said manufacturers can do so quickly and with minimal cost if they wish to launch premium TV platforms. This will help Tizen to increase its popularity.
