The smartphone industry has started moving away from the Candybar smartphones to foldable smartphones which clearly is the future. As a part of driving the innovation, which Samsung is known to do, the Display division has teased devices with tri-folding and rollable displays.
On a sketch shared by the company blog, we can see tri-folding devices which have been inspired by the Galaxy Fold Series. This design could get rid of the external displays in current foldable which are always left exposed. with this kind of design, a user could fold down a third of the unfolded area and only use the top section of the screen. If you look closely you can notice the branding of “Samsung OLED”.
The second sketch shares the glimpse of a rollable display which can collapse into the size of a pen when not in use. This design comes with the risk of being fragile and the company could market it as a desktop device. It tends to focus more on the ‘portability’ angle of the use cases.
Its clearly nowhere near ready for consumers but this is the direction Samsung Display is looking to drive its innovation into. With the different display panels that are foldable in a variety of ways, one day a user might be able to pick such a device based on his use case and it could become mainstream replacing the traditional smartphones that we see today.

Awesome blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little
lost on everything. Would you propose starting with
a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely confused ..
Any recommendations? Thanks!
