Technological advancements in the world are happening at a fast pace. We leap from one to another in a matter of years. Even before the buzz of 5G is over and it is fully developed Samsung is already thinking about 6G. According to the company, 6G will be available for commercial use as early as 2028. Let us check out in detail about Samsung’s plan for the 6G future.
In the White Paper issued by Samsung, named “The Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All”, the company explains key fields for developing 6G and its difficulties to overcome. They add that 6G will be commercially available for usage even if in a limited capacity by 2028. The company also promises that 6G will be ready for mass commercialization by 2030, which is a decade away from now.
Samsung promises the future of 6G will benefit both machines and humans. Starting from Immersive XR to holograms, it has major applications. Sunghyun Choi, Head of Advanced Communications Research Center, said that his team is focusing on Research and Development of 6G and is committed “to leading the standardization of 6G in collaboration with stakeholders across industry, academia, and government fields”. Samsung has put forward three categories of requirements in 6G. these are the hurdles towards a future with 6G. They are Performance, Architecture, and Trustworthiness.
It is expected that 6G will offer up to 1,000 Gbps peak speed which is double than that of what 5G is expected to offer. 6G might also lower the latency to 100 milliseconds using the Tera-Hertz Frequency band which requires new and advanced design concepts for implementation. The new duplex technology also offers better network topology with AI in the field of wireless communication.
Although 6G is far from reality, it sounds very promising. With the availability of nuance technology, 6G will soon be the standard in wireless communication. When do you think 6G will make it to India, given that 5G has not even started its testing here. Let us know in the comments below.
