The South Korean electronics giant Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy M series in the market of India early this year, and the company launched three devices under this series. It also offered an amazing response from the customers as well as fans of the brand. Well, today the company has launched the fourth smartphone in the Galaxy M series and it is called Samsung Galaxy M40. The device was already in the headlines from the past couple of weeks and also came across multiple reports which suggested the leaked as well as confirmed specification details. As now it’s unveiled officially, let’s check out the specs sheet along with the pricing and availability details of the device.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy M40

The smartphone sports 6.3-inch Infinity-O display (which is Samsung’s term for the punch hole setup) with full HD+ display, it has 2340 X 1080 pixels resolution along with 19:5:9 aspect ratio. It also 91% screen to body ratio along with the Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor and paired with 6GB RAM along with Adreno 612 GPU for the graphical task. In terms of storage, the device comes with 128 GB of internal storage and that can be expandable via MicroSD card.

In the camera department, the Galaxy M40 rocks triple rear cameras and that’s in the combination of the 32MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. At the front, the smartphone features of a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

The most interesting fact of the device. it can emit sound from the display as it comes with the on-screen Sound Technology which can convert the display into a speaker. The Galaxy M40 also features the in-display fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock to give the maximum level of security to the users.

Speaking about the software, the smartphone runs on Android 9 with Samsung’s latest One UI skin atop and it is coming with the native dark mode feature, which means the owners of Galaxy M40 can enjoy the feature even before the arrival of the Android Q. Furthermore, the smartphone also comes with Wideline L1 certification for streaming HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

For connectivity options, the smartphone supports Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is backed on 3,500 mAh battery with 15W fast charging, and I must say that the company needs to work in this area and they should offer at least of a 20W fast charging support.

Pricing and availability

It is priced at ₹19,990 and will be available from Amazon.in and Samsung online store from June 19th.

Opinion

The Samsung Galaxy M40 is an excellent smartphone by the company and it impressed me after a long time. Samsung finally decided to move on the correct path, as it comes with attractive design and specification along with aggressive pricing. If the company continue this set up then it can come back into the Indian smartphone market like in the past, and this device will definitely give head competition with any other smartphones like Vivo and many other brands which offers premium specifications for an affordable price.
