It’s a new trend in smartphone industry now, that the leaks of popular smartphones start popping-up from many months ago (3-4 months are common now). We are even seeing rumors of Apple iPhone 14 series, even when there’s time of a month for the launch of iPhone 13 series. Another contender here is Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series, which is supposed to launch in January or February 2022, but we are seeing leaks and rumors which seems legit, like design renders. Today also we have a new leak which suggests about a new camera sensor going to be in this lineup. So, let’s have a look at the same.
According to latest leak by a leakster Ice Universe, there will be a new 50MP RGBW sensor on the Galaxy S22 series. It’s won’t be the primary sensor though. The primary sensor might be 108MP on lower end devices like Galaxy S22, and a new 200MP camera on higher end model like Galaxy S22 Ultra (or whatever they name it). Yes, a whopping 200MP camera which is development right now by Samsung, in partnership with Olympus.

200MP、50MP RGBW,coming soon— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) August 1, 2021
Coming back to new 50MP sensor now. Those who don’t know what RGBW sensor is, it’s basically an advanced version of RGB sensor which can capture Red, Green, Blue, and even White lights. It can give around 160% more colors than any RGB sensor. Also, it’s beneficial for better highlights in high-contrast picture and contains very less grains in low light pictures. As of now we don’t know the exact use of this sensor in Galaxy S22 series, but most probably it will be useful as a physical night mode camera.
It would be interesting to see a dedicated sensor just for night mode images. It might change the low light photography scenario in smartphones. What do you think about the same? Let us know in the comment section below.
