Samsung Galaxy S9:
Starting up with this smaller one, this Galaxy S9 carries the same glass front & back design like last year’s Galaxy S8. The bezels are more thinner now, but very slightly thinner. Both front & back is attached to an aluminium frame. On the front, we have earpiece (acts as speaker too), sensors, Iris scanner, face detection sensor and front facing camera. Then there’s the beautiful 5.8 inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. There’s nothing below the display, coming to the back we have the single rear camera setup along with LED flash and heart-rate sensor. Just below the camera we have the fingerprint sensor. Though it’s still very close to camera but better than the predecessor. Then below all these, we have Samsung branding. At the bottom of the device we have 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C port and secondary speaker for stereo effect. This phone is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
Coming to the specifications, this Galaxy S9 comes with Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 octa mongoose core processor clocked at 2.8Ghz with Mali-G72 MP18 GPU. This processor is built on 10nm process, so it will consume power very efficiently. It sports a 5.8” Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with unique 18.5:9 aspect ratio. This display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and has other Samsung features like Always-on Display and 3D touch for home button. It has 4GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of internal storage options, along with MicroSd Card support for dual SIM variant.
Talking about the camera, it has 12MP rear camera with adjustable lens of f1.5 and f2.4, 1.4mm micron pixels, OIS, dual pixel PDAF and LED flash. This is the first Android device having 4K at 60fps video recording option. Also it is the first Samsung device to have 720p at 960fps video recording option. The front camera is same as it’s predecessor, 8MP shooter with f1.7 lens. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung’s Grace UX UI. This new Grace UX has some new features like AR Emojis (like iPhone X) and improved KNOX. Also you can use both Iris and face unlock at the same time. It has non-removable 3000mAh battery with older Quick Charge 2 support and Qi wireless charging. Connectivity options are 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 , NFC, and Type-C Port.
