Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is the new foldable smartphone of the South Korean electronics giant Samsung and it was unveiled with the Galaxy S20 series last week. Well, today Samsung launched the device in the market of India and it is coming with really cool features and the clamshell form factor. So, let’s check out the complete specifications of the device along with the Indian pricing and availability details.
Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
This Galaxy Z Flip has a foldable display in a clamshell design. It makes the phone size small when folded, unlike Galaxy Fold which transforms into a tablet when open and into a phone when folded. The most important difference here as compared to other foldable smartphones are UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass). While all other foldable displays have a plastic display, this one has very thin glass that can fold. Also, it’s more scratch resistance than plastic. It has a very tall 22:9 aspect ratio with 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED display having Full HD+ resolution and 425 PPI. There’s a tiny 1.1 inch secondary AMOLED display on the outer side, to get a glimpse of notifications.
Under the hood, this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes with 2019’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset along with Adreno 640 GPU, because the optimization for foldable display takes a lot of time. It has 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with no expandable storage option. It runs on Android 10 out of the box with One UI 2.0 on top. This device packs only a 3,300mAh battery with only 15W charging. The fingerprint sensor is side mounted here. Stereo speakers present here are tuned by AKG. For connectivity, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has 4G, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, aptX HD, and Type-C port.
Speaking about the camera, there’s nothing much exciting here because the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip only has a dual camera setup at the back. The primary camera is a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 1.4μm pixels, PDAF, and OIS. Then there’s 12MP ultra wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture. Though there’s nothing much exciting about the hardware, because of a clamshell design, we can place the camera still without any mount and can click high exposure images and great time-lapse/hyper-lapse. Unlike the Galaxy S20 series, this one does not support 8K video recording, only up to 4k at 60fps is supported. On the front, there’s a single 10MP camera with f/2.4 aperture, 1.24μm pixels, and PDAF.
It weighs at 183 grams, is 7.2mm thin when unfolded and 17.3mm thick when folded. It comes in Mirror Black, Mirror Purple, and Mirror Gold colour options.
Pricing and availability
The device is priced at ₹1,09,999, the pre-booking of the device will be open from tomorrow via the official website of the company and Samsung will start shipping the device from February 26.
