Samsung has been busy preparing innovative display technology for the masses behind the curtains. After pioneering the fold smartphone technology, the company is ready to test the success of under-display camera technology.
According to the Source, Samsung is working to make the UDC Technology a reality and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first device to come with an under-display selfie camera. The smartphone display’s pixels will be wider around the camera region to let the light pass through. The company will also use special algorithms to correctly reproduce the image as light refracts through the OLED layer. To ensure better compatibility Samsung LSI will also supply the under-display camera hardware unit.
We expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 to hit the market by the third quarter if 2021. If the company manages to bring the technology around that time, we can expect it to go mainstream early next year.
