The South Korean electronics giant Samsung, have topped the smartphone market in the US according to a report from Strategy Analytics. The smartphone maker beat Apple for the first time in three years.
The company came on top with an impressive 33.7% market share as compared to Apple who has a share of 30.2% in the US market for Q3 2020. The shipment numbers from July to September came in favour of Samsung, thanks primarily to the delay in the announcement as sales of the iPhone 12 Series. Apple had to delay the launch of the new iPhones owing to the COVID-’19 situations. The pandemic apparently affected the production of iPhone 12 Series and the company had to push it to October which is part of Quarter 4 of the year.
Samsung received such strong numbers thanks to the Note 20 Series and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The last time the company rose to this height was way back in Q2 of 2017. The third position in the chart was held by LG, thanks to the LG Velvet and Wing models.
According to several reports, Samsung is ramping up production of the upcoming Galaxy S21 Series, to give the company a fighting chance against the iPhone 12 Series. These reports claim that Samsung Galaxy S21 Series will be launched as early as mid-January and that the company is looking to improve the Exynos chipset to give users a suitable alternative to the Qualcomm’s offering.
