It is reported that the South Korean electronics giant Samsung has got a big blow as it lost yet another contract chip manufacturing business.
The report is saying that Qualcomm has chosen to manufacture its upcoming Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 mobile processor using TSMC’s 4nm process which means Qualcomm is switching from Samsung Foundry’s 4nm LPE process.
TSMC’s 4nm process has proven to be more efficient and the upcoming Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 mobile processor is expected to be announced on March 17.
It is believed that the upcoming chipset will feature one Cortex-X2 CPU core clocked at 2.92GHz along with three Cortex-A710 CPU cores clocked at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores running at a maximum frequency of 1.8GHz. The mobile processor is also believed to feature the Adreno 725 GPU clocked at 580MHz.
