In 2025, smartphone brands delivered mobile phones with large batteries. We’ve seen 7,000mAh and 8,000mAh battery packs becoming mainstream, and Honor even crossed the limit by launching a device with a 10,000mAh battery.
Now we got a new piece of information that says the South Korean electronics giant will be beating the Chinese smartphone brands in the race of battery capacity. It is reported that Samsung’s SDI division is testing a massive 20,000mAh dual-cell battery for smartphones. It is also reported to be based on silicon-carbon technology.
It is tipped to feature two cells of unequal size, one cell reportedly packs 12,000mAh into a 6.3mm form factor, while the second measures 4mm thick and adds another 8,000mAh. It will be offering a huge 20,000mAh figure.
The report says that the full 20,000mAh battery can be able to provide up to 27 hours of screen-on time and it can manage roughly 960 charge cycles per year, at least on paper.
