The last time Samsung launched a lower end version of their flagship was Galaxy S4 Mini, back in 2013. Till then we were just hearing rumours of mini or lite version of Samsung flagships. From past few months also we are hearing about the lite version of Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10. And good thing is that these leaks increased a lot this time which suggests that we might see these devices officially. And today Samsung finally unveiled Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Now without further delay, let’s see what these devices packs within.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite:
Starting off with Galaxy S10 lite, this one sports 6.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution and 394 pixel density (ppi). This display is even bigger than Galaxy S10+. It’s an HDR support display but there’s no mention for screen protection. It comes with an octa core chipset clocked at 2.84Ghz x 1 core, 2.42Ghz x 3 cores, and 1.78Ghz x 4 cores. Now this clock speed clearly indicates towards Snapdragon 855 chipset, so Samsung didn’t compromised on the power. It has 6/8GB RAM options and 128GB internal storage with MicroSD card support.
This Galaxy S10 Lite has triple camera setup at the back. The primary is 48MP sensor with f2.0 aperture, 0.8μm pixel size, and Super Steady OIS. This is first time Samsung is implementing this feature, which will give even better video stabilization than their current flagships. Then there’s 12MP wide angle lens with f2.2 aperture. Lastly there’s 5MP macro sensor with f2.4 aperture. The video recording here is up to 4K at 30fps, not 60fps. On the front there’s 32MP sensor with f2.2 aperture and 0.8μm pixel size.
This device runs on latest Android 10 out of the box and One UI 2 on top. It packs in 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. For security it has in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Even though the regular Galaxy S10 series had 3.5mm jack, this Lite versions simply lacks it. For connectivity it has 4G, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, aptX HD, GPS, and Type-C port. It has Prism White, Prism Blue, and Prism Black colour options.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite:
Now let’s talk about the lite version of popular Galaxy Note line-up, and interestingly it is the first lite version of any Galaxy Note device. So this Galaxy Note 10 Lite sports 6.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus display with Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution and 394 pixel density (ppi). This display is even bigger than Galaxy S10+. It’s an HDR support display but there’s no mention for screen protection. It comes with an octa core chipset clocked at 2.7Ghz x 4 cores and 1.7Ghz x 4 cores. This one resembles very closely to Exynos 9810 chipset, the first Samsung flagship chip in 2019. It has 6/8GB RAM options and 128GB internal storage with MicroSD card support.
This Galaxy Note 10 Lite also has triple camera setup at the back, but with different sensors. The primary is 12MP dual pixel sensor with f1.7 aperture, 1.4μm pixel size, and Super Steady OIS. Then there’s 12MP wide angle lens with f2.2 aperture. Lastly there’s 12MP Telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom, f2.4 aperture, 1.0μm pixel size, and OIS.
Here the regular Galaxy Note 10 series lacks 3.5mm jack, but this Note 10 Lite has the same. And it has the USP of Note series, the S-Pen. For connectivity it has 4G, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, aptX HD, GPS, and Type-C port. It has Aura Glow, Aura Red, and Aura Red colour options.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally speaking the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is a better value than Galaxy S10 Lite. It has S-Pen support, better optics, and better pricing as well. Though the Snapdragon 855 on Galaxy S10 Lite is slightly more optimised. Well, what are your thoughts on both these smartphones by Samsung? Which is the better value?
