Microsoft – the world’s most valuable company which even beat Apple and Google, the company has upper hands in the tech world and without the Microsoft developed Windows operating system the world can’t do any business. Well, the backbone of the company recently talked to a publication and revealed about the loss.
Bill Gates now regret about the decision of shutting down the Windows Phone and also for utilizing the setup to beat Google, he also says that decision lost out on $400 billion.
In his own words, “In the software world, particularly for platforms, these are winner-take-all markets. So the greatest mistake ever is whatever mismanagement I engaged in that caused Microsoft not to be what Android is. That is, Android is the standard non-Apple phone platform. That was a natural thing for Microsoft to win. It really is winner take all. If you’re there with half as many apps or 90 percent as many apps, you’re on your way to complete doom. There’s room for exactly one non-Apple operating system and what’s that worth? $400 billion that would be transferred from company G to company M.”
Speaking about the Windows Phone, Microsoft unveiled Nokia Lumia series and it came with Metro design which created some wave in the smartphone industry and then the company replaced it with the Windows Phone 7 in October 2010. However, the company started to lose its users and the operating system was isolated in the smartphone industry and that made the company to take the decision to shut down it early this year.
