The smartphone brands are increasing the pricing of devices on a daily basis and this is said to be happening because of memory shortage. To control the pricing, the government said to cut GST on smartphone models but now we got a new piece of information that says the decision has been delayed. So let’s get into the article to check out the details.
It is said that that smartphone GST cut delayed from September 12 to October 7 in the country. The 57th GST Council meeting was originally scheduled for September 12, but has now been moved to October 7.
Currently, smartphone buyers buyers have to pay 18% GST, and a cut to 12% or even 5% was expected to be discussed. This cut will be beneficial as I already mentioned that the smartphone prices are rising sharply due to the ongoing memory shortage, with the cost of RAM and storage increasing.
It is worth mentioning that the next preparatory meetings are expected on October 5–6, 2026. So let’s wait for a positive outcome and you guys are recommended to stick with us for more updates from the world of technology.
