There is no secret in the Outsourcing strategy of smartphone brands, as the design is not always done by the brands that you see on the box and now a new report from Counterpoint Research sheds light on the extent of outsourcing in the industry. Going through the report, we can see which manufacturers rely most heavily on external design companies. So let’s get into the article to check out the details.
It is revealed that Motorola is at the top of the table, with a whopping 90% of its smartphones designed by third parties and the numbers are from the first half of this year which means 2024. Followed by, Xiaomi as the company has outsourced 78% of its designs and Vivo has a percentage of 52.
Huawei has outsourced around 44% of its designs, while Honor and the Oppo group come in at 40% and 39% respectively. Now let’s talk about the giants – Apple and Samsung.
The report says that Apple is committed to in-house design and the company is controlling the complete process for all its iPhones while Samsung outsourced 22% in the first half of 2024.
