The popular chipset maker Qualcomm has introduced its two new chipsets today and the same is dubbed Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 which is meant for the mid range devices & Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 which will be powering the entry level devices. So let’s dive into the article to check out the complete details of the newly announced chips.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1
The latest Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is based on a 4nm node and the same has an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores along with a max clock speed of 2.2GHz. There is no information about its GPU but the same supports the Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 FP APIs. The GPU features hardware-accelerated H.256 and VP9 decoding, HDR Playback Codec support for HLG, and HDR gaming.
It can able to support up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 2750MHz and UFS 3.1 storage. The company is also offering the chipset with the 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine along with the always-on 3rd Gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub and the next-gen Qualcomm Hexagon Tensor Accelerator (HTA).
Regarding the connectivity options, the Snapdragon chipset is coming with the support of the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF system and the same features both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G along with Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 system. It is also supporting Wi-Fi 6E support and Bluetooth 5.2 with LE Audio.
Talking about the camera setup, the chipset can offer a Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit Triple ISP that can accommodate up to three 13MP cameras, a 25MP+16MP dual camera system, or a single 48MP camera. It can also offer hardware-based multi-frame noise reduction, slow-motion 720p video capture at 240FPS, 4K HDR video capture at 30FPS, and AI-based face detection, auto-focus, and auto-exposure.
The latest Snapdragon chipset also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging. It is also featuring dual-frequency GNSS (L1/L5), Sensor-Assisted Positioning. The chipset can offer up to FHD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate display.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1
Coming to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, it is based on a 6nm process and the same has an octa-core CPU with two Kryo Prime CPUs (Cortex A78-based) at up to 2.0GHz and six Kryo Efficiency CPUs (Cortex A55-based) at up to 1.8GHz. The company did not reveal GPU but the same supports Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 API. It is also arriving with LPDDR4X memory at up to 2133MHz along with eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.2.
Speaking about the connectivity options, it is arriving with a Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system along with Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 System, Wi-Fi 5 support, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset features the Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit Triple ISP with Multi-frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) and Triple Concurrent photo and video capture. The chipset can offer up to three 13MP cameras, a 25MP+13MP dual camera system, or a single 32MP camera.
It can also feature 1080p single video capture at 60 frames per second, 1080p dual video capture at 30 frames per second, 720p slow motion video capture at 120 frames per second, and HEIC photo capture. It is also coming with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. The chipset also supports dual-frequency GNSS (L1/L5) as well as Sensor-Assisted Positioning. It is featuring up to FHD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Speaking about the availability, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 will debut on the upcoming iQOO Z6 Lite 5G smartphone. The device will be official next week in India. On the other hand, we don’t have any information on the smartphone which will arrive with the latest Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.
