The popular mobile chipset maker Qualcomm has silently launched a new chipset dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset. The processor comes with the model number SM8850-1-AB, and it is focused for gaming. The new processor will debut with the upcoming Redmi K100 Pro series. Everything about Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset
The latest processor of Qualcomm is sharing most of its specifications with the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant. The new processor comes with the same CPU and GPU configuration as the regular 4.6GHz Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It also features two Oryon prime cores clocked at up to 4.6GHz, six performance cores running at up to 3.62GHz, and the processor has an Adreno GPU operating at 1.2GHz. The chipset also gets the same Hexagon NPU, X85 5G modem, FastConnect 7900 connectivity system, LPDDR5X memory support, UFS 4.1 storage compatibility, and it also supports Qualcomm Spectra ISP.
Now let’s check out the difference between the two chipsets. The latest processor comes with the Adreno High Performance Memory (HPM). The regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 features 18MB of dedicated Adreno HPM, while the newly announced processor comes with 12MB.
Redmi will be the first smartphone branded to adopt the new processor and it will debut in the upcoming Redmi K100 Pro series, which is set to launch in China on August 11.
