Bluetooth Audio has become a thing since past two years now. The trend started from Bluetooth Headphones and now it’s just not limited to that. There are multiple smart speakers and smart home ecosystems which are using the same. Many companies and consumers now seek Multi speaker and multi-room systems. Qualcomm recently announced that they will be making streaming the audio through Bluetooth much easier now by adding these capabilities to its Snapdragon 845 Mobile platform.
What is this technology about?
Qualcomm’s Broadcast Audio enables a single audio stream to be synchronized and shared with multiple devices using Bluetooth. There are numerous applications of this including, sharing music to multiple wireless headsets, using a phone as a mass broadcast system to speak to multiple devices at once or for voice communication and other audio sharing between handsets.
In addition to Snapdragon 845, Broadcast Audio is also available on many of their Bluetooth audio SoC’s which are designed for speakers and headphones. These include the CSR8670, CSR675, CSRA68100 and the latest QCC5100. It is also possible that we can see this feature in Qualcomm’s other chips as well since the company is planning to offer software updates. All in all, if you are planning to buy a handset with SD845 inside it, you’ll probably be able to enjoy one-to-many Bluetooth streaming.
