The Japanese electronics giant Sony has officially introduced the latest image sensor called the device and the same will be powering the camera department of multiple upcoming flagship smartphone models, including the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra. The newly announced Sony LYT-901 image sensor (previously referred to as ‘Sony IMX09E’) is the very first 200MP sensor from the brand, and the same comes with a super large size of 1/1.12″. It also features 0.7μm pixel size along with HF-HDR (Hybrid Frame-HDR) for smarter highlight and shadow balance.
It has the dynamic range of 100dB+ with 17 stops, and the DCG-HDR and Fine 12-bit ADC that ensures better tonal depth as well as cleaner RAW output. The image sensor also comes with 4x lossless near optical zoom (4x sensor-in-zoom – ISZ) and the same also offers 4x hardware zoom + 4K videos at 30fps combination.
The latest camera sensor also comes with 120fps video capture at 4K resolution using the 4x binning mode. Quad-Quad Bayer, the AI-based built-in Rebayer circuit is also used, and it is capable of performing heavy in-sensor processing.
It also supports 4K HDR video up to 60fps, large pixel-binned modes like 50MP (2×2) and 12.5MP (4×4) for a cleaner low-light image output, integer pixel-bin zoom levels of 200MP > 50MP > 12.5, and enhanced concert-level zoomed capture support.
