The most favourite instant messaging application of the planet WhatsApp has introduced lots of new features in recent time, but the company still doesn’t have a few much needed and handy features. One of them is the permission of a user before he or she get added into any WhatsApp group. However, this feature is going to be added into the application very soon and this is one of my personal favourite features.
According to the reports, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) asked the Facebook-owned WhatsApp to implement a feature that would first ask for the users’ permission before adding them to any WhatsApp group. The demand for this feature arisen after several people complained that they were being added to random groups repetitively.
To address this issue, the developers of the app working on a new feature called Group Invitation in the group which will give more control to the user regarding who can add them to an existing or a newly created group. With the upcoming ‘Group Invitation’ feature, you’ll get three option in group invite privacy — Everyone, My Contact, and Nobody.
These options will work similar to the WhatsApp Status; the option ‘Everyone’ is for those who don’t mind getting added to the groups by anyone. ‘My Contact’ will not allow random persons to add you. And if you don’t want to be the of WhatsApp groups then choose the ‘Nobody’ option, where the joining invitation will expire in 72 hours.
Speaking about the availability of the feature, it is currently in the development stage and the company is testing the feature in the beta program on the iOS platform. We believe that the company will bring the feature to the Android platform as well and make it stable very soon, we recommend you to stay tuned with us for the latest updates from the world of tech at your fingertips.
