India is the second largest smartphone market and Apple is enjoying a good ride in India as well and the company has two stores in the country. Apple has been making iPhones in the country since 2016 and the brand has three contract manufacturers namely Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron. The Indian IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar has officially posted a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to congratulate Tata Group for taking over Wistron’s operations in the country and this recents the exit of Wistron from the iPhone assembly business in the country. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time and Indian company will be making iPhones.

Now let’s check out the details of the deal, the deal between Tata Group and Wistron is worth $125 million (around Rs 124.9 crores) and the plant of Wistron is located in Karnataka which is in the southern part of the country.
