Apple recently hosted the WWDC 2022 event, in it the new M2 Power MacBooks were announced. But ahead of schedule, the company received clearance for a new feature for the Watch Series 8, it has the potential to save lives.
During the WWDC event, Apple unveiled the new watch OS9, which is set to bring many new features. One of these is a new biomonitor sensor that incorporates AFib weight. According to official report, the brand’s latest Apple Watch can detect irregular rhythms by monitoring the heartbeat. These irregular rhythms may indicate atrial fibrillation (AFib).
For those who do not know, AFib occurs when the lower and upper chambers of the heart do not synchronize. The new Apple Watch Series 8 can track how often a person is in atrial fibrillation. It is expected to launch later this year.
When shipping, the Watch Series 8 may be able to save lives through this feature. AFib affects 9% of the population aged 65 years and over and 2% of the population under 65 years of age. However, some people with AFib never experience any symptoms and, if left untreated, can lead to heart attack or stroke.Apple recently hosted the WWDC 2022 event, in it the new M2 Power MacBooks were announced.
