The developers have also taken various measures to solve this issue and now in a bid to combat fake news, the developers of the instant messaging application testing a feature called ‘search image’ in the latest beta update of WhatsApp v2.19.73 for Android.
With the new move, the messenger aiming to reduce the number of fake news and unwanted contents. That said, according to the WABetainfo, WhatsApp will use official Google APIs to search for the images on the Web. Once the image is uploaded on Google, WhatsApp will open the browser to show the search results.
The text messaging application already allows you to search messages within multiple chats and now the developers of this application working to improve the search feature and it will be dubbed as ‘advanced search’. The feature will allow you to search for media as well, which means the feature will help users to search for the photos, videos, audios, documents, and even links from one place. That’s not all, the feature will also allow you to filter the search by tapping on a type of the media. Currently, the feature is only available on the latest beta builds for iPhones.
The in-app browser, is one of the most important features nowadays and other popular social media application already supports this. Having said that, WhatsApp’s parent Facebook and Instagram have this feature.
