OnePlus always tries to listen to their consumer feedback on their forum and bring new features and fix bugs according to that. And this active response from the OEM resulted in the most fluid and stable UI by any Android OEM, OxygenOS. It’s the result of OnePlus’s support team dedication and user feedback that OxygenOS surpassed even the Stock Android by Google in terms of fluidity and stability.
A few months back OnePlus announced a contest on their forum, that they will pick new features suggested by a user and they will place it on their upcoming OxygenOS 10. So the winner was announced recently, and now he shared his ideas on forum, which we might see on OxygenOS 10. So let’s dig into it.
AMOLED Black Theme & Launch Setup:
OnePlus has Dark Theme in OxygenOS for a long time now. But this theme didn’t make the UI completely black, it was very dark black but not completely black. With Android Q Google will bring its own Dark Theme, which will be pure black. So OnePlus will most probably also bring this feature in their OxygenOS 10. The winner suggested that the theme option will be offered whole first setup of the phone. So it will be a nifty thing for users. Also the Setup UI will be redesigned to look a bit different from stock Android setup.
Recent App Drawer:
With OxygenOS 9 OnePlus bought left-right swipe recent apps. Now with OxygenOS 10 this might also change. Just like Android Q DP, the upcoming OxygenOS might also have card stack style recent app drawer. If you remember, few years back there were card stack style drawers in older Android versions, which goes in up-down direction. But now it will be in left-right direction.
App Icons & Shelf:
He suggested some UI changes in the launcher as well. First, he suggested the app icons to get rounded just like stock Android has. There is already an option to switch to rounded icons in OxygenOS launcher, but maybe this will be different from current icons. The tabs in Shelf are also suggested to get rounded edges.
OxygenOS provides FileDash which can transfer big files to other OnePlus smartphones at great speed. This is similar to apps like SHAREit and Xender. The UI of FileDash will get improvement with OxygenOS 10. Also we are expecting that OnePlus will give support to transfer data from FileDash to any Android smartphone, as Android Q might have Fast Share option in-built.
Camera & Gallery App:
Finally, he suggested UI changes in Camera and Gallery app of OxygenOS. The Gallery app looks completely refreshed and redesigned, while the camera app looks a bit different from the current app. We may see redesigned UI changes in more OnePlus apps as well.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. These features will debut on OnePlus 7T series (if it happens), or with Android Q update on OnePlus 7 series. What are your thoughts on these changes?
