Key Points:
-
- The smartphone users in the country received emergency alert messages by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
- It was actually a testing message.
- The emergency alert message was sent as a flash message.
Earlier today, I received a flash message with vibration followed by the message was read by the phone and it was an emergency alert. The message was sent by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Well, the message was sent across the country and it was actually a test of the emergency alert system.
The officials sent the message as a flash message to users and the alert message clearly revealed that it’s a test and you don’t need to do anything apart from clicking the okay button to dismiss the flash message.
This particular emergency alert will be used in the future for any major disaster in the country. If you missed the alert message then you can check out the same below and the message was sent through the Cell Broadcasting System by DoT.

It is worth mentioning that the NDMA has been carrying out the practice of sending alerts through SMSes and the new set up will be more effective as it will appear as a flash message on your screen.
