Early this year, we updated that the popular video application TikTok may get banned in India after the information technology minister of Tamil Nadu, asked the lower house of India’s legislature to ban the short video application TikTok in Tamil Nadu. That said, the reason for this demand is to stop spreading the harmful and unwanted videos.
The case was taken for hearing today and the Honorable Supreme Court decided to ban on the Chinese application from the Indian market, the Supreme Court also asked the tech giant Google as well as Apple to pull down the application from the Play Store and App store respectively. This order will stop the download of the application on mobile devices, but the users who have already installed the TikTok app on the Android or iOS devices will be able to continue using the app. However, there will be no update and new features.
Having said that, the order came just days after the video application TikTok filed a plea in Supreme Court to put a stay on Madras High Court’s order which came out on April 3.
Personally speaking, this is a really good decision by the Honorable Court because this type of application leads lots of unwanted incidences and we totally welcome this order. We would like to hear your thoughts about the same in the comments section below!
