As we all know that the budget and mid-range smartphone market is taken by Xiaomi from past 2-3 years. Their smartphones under sub 15k have a huge demand by end consumers. This year Redmi 5 series is getting good popularity, sales, and appreciation as well. As of now most of us are not even thinking about the next generation Redmi series, but seems like it’s time to look after it. As two new Xiaomi smartphones got spotted on TENAA.
Seeing the lower end specifications of these two devices, it’s being assumed that these smartphones are Redmi 6 and Redmi 6a. Talking about the design both devices has typical Redmi design with metal body. While the Redmi 6 sports 12MP dual camera setup and fingerprint sensor beneath the camera setup, the Redmi 6A just has a single 12MP camera and no fingerprint sensor (maybe present on the front, but it’s less possible). On the front there will be a 5MP shooter on both phones, surely not easy to place face unlock with this resolution. The processor will be an octa core chipset clocked at 2GHz, model and brand unknown. Both devices have 5.45 inch of HD+ display with resolution of 1440×720 and 18:9 aspect ratio.
There will be 2/16GB and 3/32GB storage variants on Redmi 6A, whereas the Redmi 6 will also have 4/64GB storage variant. Both smartphones will have 300 0mAh battery and both will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with MIUI on top. Connectivity wise there will be WiFi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS, IR Blaster, MicroUSB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Seems like this time the speaker grill will be placed at the back, below the Xiaomi logo. Both will be 8.3mm thick and weights at 146 grams.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Neither Redmi 6 nor Redmi 6A is mentioned on the TENAA, so take the names with a pinch of salt. But if these specs turn out to be true, what’s your opinion on these specs? What’s your assumption on the processor’s model on these devices? Do let us know in the comment section below.
