Vivo has announced on Weibo, China’s microblogging site, a new imaging chip responsible for enhancing the display and imaging capabilities of its next flagships. The Vivo X80 series will feature a V1 + chip developed by the company and MediaTek.
The Vivo X80 Series is Vivo’s next flagship offer, and offers more depth for better V1 + imaging chip models. The V1 + chip is the successor to the V1 released last year. It supports MediaTek Dimension 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs. Collaboration with MediaTek resulted in more than 30 related patents.
The new V1 + image processor is number one in many ways. This made Vivo the first OEM to make image processors compatible with high-end SoCs such as Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The V1 + chip marks the end of a year – long collaboration between MediaTek and Vivo, which has about 300 employees. The chip is also well suited for high quality and high speed gaming applications. Vivo adds enhancements to color, portrait and shooting aspects by creating a new, brighter and more textured memory scheme. It uses AI technology to significantly enhance image quality.
Vivo also implements algorithms to optimize CPU resource allocation, reduce heat output, and increase the efficiency of Dimension 9000. It also has a rub-off effect on battery life, with up to 10% improvement reported in tests. The overall impact of the X80 series on the market could be far-reaching.
