After all the leaks, rumours, and teasers, the popular Chinese smartphone brand Vivo has finally launched the latest folding phone dubbed the Vivo X Fold 5 and it is claimed as the lightest folding phone in the world. The device is launched with an 8.03″ 2K LTPO display along with a 50MP ZEISS setup, 100x zoom, and the device houses a large 6000mAh battery. So here are the full details of the device.

The newly announced Vivo X Fold 5 features an 8.03-inch inner AMOLED display with a 2K+ resolution along with a 1-120Hz adaptive LTPO refresh rate and up to 4500 nits peak brightness. While the outer screen has a 6.53-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED panel with the same 120Hz refresh rate and brightness level. Both displays of the device feature 10.7 billion colors, Dolby Vision, and high-frequency PWM dimming. The inner screen is protected by UTG glass, and the outer display has the protection of the second-generation Armor Glass.
It comes with the power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor along with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The device features a custom hinge-integrated antenna setup and it is said to improve signal strength by 36% in the folded state. The network performance of the device is enhanced in collaboration with Qualcomm.
Vivo has introduced the new Vivo X Fold 5 with Android 15 and a layer of OriginOS 5 on top. The device also comes with a new productivity-focused feature called “Atomic Workbench.” It supports up to five simultaneous apps in split-screen view with drag-and-drop capability as well. The device is also integrated deeply with Apple devices, supporting AirPods, Apple Watch (Series 6+), and Mac file management, including drag-and-drop and screen extension.
Speaking about the camera department, the device features a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The device comes with ZEISS optics and software to enable pro-level portrait modes, macro shots, and enhanced low-light photography. Both displays feature 20MP front-facing cameras.
The latest Vivo X Fold 5 houses a large 6000mAh Blue Ocean battery in partnership with CATL. The battery has fourth-generation silicon anode material and second-generation semi-solid-state battery technology. The battery achieves an energy density of 866Wh/L and the device supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
It also comes with a reengineered hinge made from FS55 high-strength steel and carbon fiber. It is also said to be the first foldable to get the certification of IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water resistance. The device is also rated IP5X for dust resistance. The device features dual stereo speakers. It also supports NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with NavIC among others, for connectivity. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The pricing and availability, the pricing of the device start at 6999 yuan, and it will be available in China from July 2. And the device is expected to be announced in India next month.
