The telecom giant Vodafone has unveiled a new initiative called Ashadh, and it will allow the pilgrims on their annual padayatra to Pandharpur. In this initiative, the telecom operator sends two Mobile Vans. The Vans will travel with the Warkaris all through their journey from Pune to Pandharpur.
These vans will give offer many facilities like free calling, mobile phone charging points, recharge vouchers and M-Pesa money transfer service which will help the Warkaris to stay connected with their dear and ones during the journey. Moreover, the pilgrims will able to make use of the facilities at all halting points of the Palkhi on the way to Pandharpur. Speaking about the van, Vodafone has equipped with 8 phones and over 50 charging points.
Furthermore, the Mobile Vans also has an LED screen which will stream live content like news, bhakti bhajans and religious movies and it will be powered by Vodafone Play. Having said that, Vodafone is doing this from 2013 and in this five years, the telecom operator has assisted lakhs of people with free calls through the ‘Vodafone Mobile Vans’ initiative.
