Back in last month, the developers of the world’s most favourite instant messaging application WhatsApp introduced a new feature in the beta version of the Messenger and it allows users to hide the downloaded media from the gallery app of the device. However, the feature was removed from the later updates but now the developers brought the feature back with a welcome improvement.
When the feature was introduced for the first time, it allowed the users to hide the entire media (when the feature enabled). But now the developers have improved the feature and now it allows users to hide the downloaded media on individual chats.
You can hide all the newly downloaded media by heading to the Settings > Data and storage usage menu, and if you want to hide media which you receive from a particular chat or group, then open the ‘info’ page (tap contact or group name), now find ‘Media visibility’ option, and tap on it and select ‘No’.
Speaking about the availability, the feature is currently available in the beta version 2.18.194 of WhatsApp. If you want to get the feature then enroll to the official beta program.
