The biometric authentication is the most advanced security option for any device as well as application, and the world’s most favourite instant messaging application WhatsApp has this feature since February this year for the iPhone users. The Apple users can able to unlock WhatsApp Messenger with the face as well as with their finger but the developers limited the feature only on the iOS platform.
However, now with the latest version of WhatsApp Messenger the developers have rolled out the fingerprint lock feature to the Android devices as well. As the name suggests, the new feature will help users to add an additional layer of protection on the messenger, as it will lock automatically once you close the app and you need to unlock the application with your own fingerprint which means no other can able to check your private messages.
Moreover, you can also select the time range to automatically lock the application, you can use immediately after closing the app to after 1 minute, and after 30 minutes. It will also allow you to to choose whether the message to be visible in the notifications including the information of the sender. That’s a pretty cool addition and this will help you to add protection to your conversations and you can give your phone to your friends without any worries.
How to enable the feature
To enable the fingerprint lock feature you need to head to the Settings > Account > Privacy > Fingerprint lock. After this, you need to confirm your fingerprint to unlock the application.
