Since August, we are hearing about the new business app of WhatsApp and in last month the company has announced its business app which is targeting for small companies, and it also started to verified profiles. Now the app has made its way for Android and landed on the Google Play Store, in this article I’ll cover everything about the new WhatsApp Business App. Read on.
The new Business app of WhatsApp has similar logo like the regular WhatsApp app, but the ‘phone’ icon is replaced with the letter ‘B’. And the app is coming with Business Profile, Chat Migration, Auto Responses and Analytics features. Speaking about the user interface of the new app, the new Business app has similar design of the regular WhatsApp app for Android, but the top bar now reads WhatsApp Business instead of only WhatsApp. Moreover, the Settings menu now features two new sections, which are Business settings and Statistics.
Speaking about the two new features, the Statistics section doesn’t show much useful statistics (in current version), it only shows the number of messages which were sent, received, read and delivered from your business account. Moving to the Business settings, it further shows two more options, for editing your business profile and to set ‘away message’.
Under the ‘Edit business profile’, you will able to edit your business’ details such as category, location, description, email ID and website URL. And the app also gives you a preview of how your business profile would look to others. Moving to the ‘away message’ feature, it’s work like an auto-responder. It will allow businesses to respond to the messages which they receive from their customers when they are unavailable to reply. And the away messages can be either turned on for all the messages, or, can be scheduled to be sent between specific time and date. Moreover, the app also allows you to personalize the away message and can also use emoji.
Now from the view point of customers, they will able to see the details of the businesses which is added when they open up the business’ profile. And if that business account is verified, customers will see ‘Green badge’ along with “Verified business” written below the name of the business. And when a customer initiate to chat, they will see yellow box saying, the chat is secured using end-to-end encryption, and, there would be another yellow box which mentions that they are chatting with a verified/unverified business account.
The company also allows you keep both the regular and business app on one device, but for that you need to register with the landline number. Well, this move is really awesome.
