The Facebook-owned messaging service, WhatsApp gets an update to its API that aims to help businesses to communicate with their users faster. This new update is aimed at new WhatsApp business users and was announced during the F8 Refresh event.
The company claims that it succeeded in arranging a system to accept a WhatsApp Business user in just minutes which earlier took weeks. With the new update, the app aims to help get new business owners onboard and hook them up with potential customers easily. The company quotes, Whether a business wants to work with a business solution provider or get support directly from Facebook in the future, these improvements will make it easier for more medium and larger businesses to have customer conversations on WhatsApp,”
Before the update, businesses were only able to send timely notifications, but the update allows them to send new types of messages such as additional information about a product. WhatsApp adds that the periodic updates from health authorities are helpful in acting against the pandemic and that this conversation helps them bring certain changes to the business chats.
Now Businesses can show up to 10 items in a menu and the customers can choose their response without typing the answer. The customers need only select a custom reply as their response in this new update. This minimises the response time and effort taken by the customers to interact with the respective business owners. When a user blocks a business from further conversations, the company will allow users to share the reason and their experience as well
