It seems that WhatsApp is gearing up to borrow a feature of Telegram as the WhatsApp Channels are incoming and the same is believed to be similar to the Telegram channels. According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS (Testflight version 23.8.0) is revealing messaging service plans to update the Status tab with a new Channels section. The new WhatsApp channels will enable users to discover new channels via a Find Channels button and that means the channels will have a unique ID and the same can be found with the channel handles. The new feature will not display participants’ personal information including names or phone numbers to others.
It is said that users will need to join to a new channel manually using the channel name or its handle, and the platform will not have algorithmic recommendations or social graph.
