Back in December last year, the world’s most favourite instant messaging application WhatsApp stopped its support on many devices and now the company has confirmed that the list will be expanded soon. The company made changes on its minimum requirements and the company will stop support for various smartphones and feature phones. So without making any further delay let’s dive into the article to check out the latest update about WhatsApp.
It is officially confirmed that the instant messaging app will stop working on the devices which are running on the old versions of operating systems and the application will stop working as soon as from November this year.
WhatsApp will stop working on the devices which are running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, iOS 9, and KaiOS 2.5.0 the new decision will be effective from November 1, 2021.
What should I do now?
If you are using a device which is running on the version of operating system which is mentioned above, then you need to either switch to a new device or update the phone if there is any new update is available. If you don’t find any new version of the operating system on your current device then you need to purchase a new smartphone to continue using WhatsApp.
With the new decision, WhatsApp has also updated its minimum requirements. You can check out the new requirements to use WhatsApp below.
Minimum requirements to use WhatsApp
From November this year, WhatsApp will require a minimum of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, iOS 10, or KaiOS 2.5.1. The company has also confirmed that if an iPhone is jailbroken, then you will not able to use WhatsApp.
Personally speaking, I don’t think that the new decision will affect many users as company is retiring from very old version of the Android and IOS platform. But we can’t say anything about the users of KaiOS.
