The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp is testing advertisements on the board and the same is currently happening in the latest beta version of the application. The developers are implementing advertisements in status and channels. So let’s get into the article to learn the new piece of information.
We previously heard about the integration of advertisements on WhatsApp, and now, finally, it’s on the way as the developers are testing advertisements in the latest beta version of the instant messaging application. You will see advertisements in status and channels.
The advertisements will appear in the status section along with the regular status updates from your contacts and the advertisements will be short and in vertical orientation. The advertisement will be labelled as sponsored as well. You can view them and swipe past them as well. It is similar to the advertisements that appear in the story section on Instagram.
WhatsApp will also enable you to block the advertiser if you are not interested and once you have blocked the advertiser then you will not see advertisements from that particular brand. Moreover, the new advertisement feature is also designed for content creators or public figures and brands as they can be promoted in the channel directory. This will enable users to discover them more easily and it will also presented with a sponsored label.
It is promised that the company will never compromise the privacy of its users, as everything will be end to end encrypted. WhatsApp has also promised to keep private areas ad-free which means you your chats, group messages, calls, and communities will not be served with advertisements.
There is no information about the rolling out of the advertisements in the stable version of the instant messaging application but we can expect it very soon.
