The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp enables users to share GIF to make the conversation more interesting and the company was dependent on Tenor. Now we got a new piece of information that says the company will be replacing the source and it will be joining its hand with Klipy as one of its default GIF providers.
It was discovered in the latest iOS beta update by WABetaInfo (version 26.2.10.70), and this particular version reveals that the instant messaging application will make a new change.
This is happening mainly because Tenor recently announced that the company will shut down its API services on June 30, 2026. So that’s why WhatsApp is changing the source and integrating Klipy to ensure users can continue sharing GIFs on the board.
It is worth mentioning that this switch is not only expected to be limited to WhatsApp as Klipy will be replacing Tenor on other platforms including Discord, has also started transitioning to Klipy.
