Xiaomi the smart phone manufacturers has unveiled its own processor called Surge S1 at MWC event in Barcelona.
Xiaomi has announced the launch of its own Surge S1 processor, which is the company’s first chipset developed by themselves. The company has joined its hands with Pinecone to make their own processor. The development of the processor took 28 months and it is aimed towards balancing performance and power efficiency to produce in a large scale also reducing the overall cost of the devices.
The newly launched chipset by xiaomi has and Octa Core configuration with four high-performance ARM Cortex A53 cores and it is clocked at 2.2 GHz and the other four power efficient ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. The processor using with big.LITTLE structure for efficient usage of the eight cores. The chipset is supported by the quad core Mali-T860 GPU and is a equipped with a 32-bit high performance DSP for voice processing and a 14-bit dual ISP for enhanced image processing capabilities.
The new processor has dual noise reduction algorithm which reduces noise and preserves details in low light. Moreover, the processor’s ISP algorithm improve camera light sensitivity by 150%. The processor also has VoLTE support, the processor has Chip Level security which protects data integrity and prevent unauthorized network access while combining hardware and software and the processor would be first available on Mi 5c.
