Zomato Acquires Uber Eats In India

The growth of online food industry is increasing day by day in India. Now people are finding online food order a better option than dine-in. It’s more time saving, convenient, and saves a lot of money through heavy discounts. Uber Eats, which was launched in India in 2017, gets a big credit for making this industry this big. But now we won’t get service from the same, because it’s now purchased by another big Indian food delivery brand.

The big Indian food delivery brand Zomato acquired Uber Eats. This happened all of a sudden that it’s a big surprise for many foodies like me. The panel which pops when we open Uber Eats app says that it’s now acquired by Zomato. If you have order something after July 2019, the account will automatically be set-up on Zomato. And for those accounts Zomato is giving some offers as well. First it 50% off on next three orders above ₹99 and up to ₹150, validity is 15th February. Then there’s also a three month free trial of Zomato Gold, where users can get 1+1 on food and 2+2 on drinks from selected restaurants. But good thing is that delivery partners at Uber will get employed at Zomato immediately. It applied from today itself and you can’t open anything on Uber Eats from now on.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally speaking I am a bit disappointed with this movie, because there were many good restaurants which we available on Uber Eats and not on Zomato. Also I personally find Uber Eats more valuable and it offers better discounts. Well, what are your thoughts on this move? Let us know in the comment section below.
