After multiple leaks and rumours, the mobile manufacturer ZTE has announced the all-new ZTE Axon 30 Pro and Axon 30 Ultra. ZTE went all guns blazing with the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra as it features a triple 64MP camera on the back capable of delivering various shots. The smartphone will be offered with a whopping 1TB of storage which is a first for the company. Unlike its predecessor, the Ultra misses out on the under-display selfie camera and makes do with a punch-hole selfie camera.

As for the ZTE Axon 30 Pro, it features the same chipset as the Ultra and carries a high refresh rate display over too. Unlike the Ultra model, it sacrifices the camera department and settles for two 64MP cameras and lack optical zoom capabilities. It features a curved 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate with adjustable mode supported by a touch sampling rate of 300Hz. The display also supports HDR10+ and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The smartphone comes with a 95% screen-to-body ratio alongside support for 10-bit colors. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the latest and greatest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to a whopping 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner for additional security.

Shifting the focus to the camera department, the Axon 30 Ultra has a triple rear camera setup starting with a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with support for Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and f/1.6 aperture, followed by another 64MP camera sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 aperture. The third camera of the lot is also a 64MP sensor and is paired with a 120-degree FOV ultra-wide angle lens. The main camera can shoot 8K videos at 30 fps. The final one on the list is an 8MP periscope zoom lens with support for 5x optical zoom, 60x hybrid zoom and OIS. As for the selfies, the company has included a 16MP camera inside the centrally aligned punch hole setup.

Regarding the connectivity options, it comes with 5G, WiFi-6E, NFC, and USB Type-C port, The smartphone runs MyOS 11 based on Android 11. It is backed by a 4,600 mAh battery that supports 66W fast wired charging. It weighs 188 grams.

It features a flat 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate complemented by a higher-touch sampling rate of 360Hz. It boasts of features such as DC dimming, Blue light filtering, and adaptive refresh rate. The display panel is 10-bit and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. It is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Talking about the camera setup, it has a quad rear camera setup with two 64MP cameras. The primary sensor is a  64MP Sony IMX686 model with support for OIS followed by another 64MP sensor that has a 120-degree FOV. The third one of the bunch is a 5MP macro camera and finally, we have a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is the 16MP unit as the Ultra.

In terms of connectivity, the Axon 30 Pro offers 5G, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, and a USB Type-C port. It is powered by a 4,200 mAh battery that supports 55W fast charging. The software is based on Android 11 with MyOS 11 on top. It weighs 186 grams.

Pricing and Availability

The Axon 30 Ultra will start at CNY 4,700 ($720) for the 8GB + 256GB version, followed by the 12GB + 256GB variant which will be sold for CNY 4,998 ($765). The maxed-out variant with 16GB 1TB configuration will set you back CNY 6,666 ($1,020/€850). It will be available in Black, White and Mint colours and a special tan vegan leather edition.

On the other hand, the ZTE Axon 30 Pro will start at CNY 2,998 ($459) for the 6GB +128GB version, the 8GB +128GB version will retail for CNY 3,298 ($505). The top of the line 8GB + 256GB variant will have a price tag of CNY 3,598 ($551). It will come in Obsidian Black and Misty Rain Blue colours. The sale of smartphones will start on April 19th. Both smartphones are expected to debut in the international market shortly.
