Couple of weeks ago, we updated a report which suggested that HTC is planning to sell its business because the company is finding tough time to make profits. And now a new report says that, the Mountain View company is eyeing on the smartphone division of the HTC.
According to a report by Commercial Times, Google is planning to buy HTC’s smartphone division which has been struggling to make any profits. And the publication also says, both the companies are in the final stage of negotiation regarding this deal. And the publication hasn’t provided the source based on which they are reporting about this deal.
Looking from the point of Google, acquiring smartphone division of HTC will strengthen its upcoming smartphones, and the Mountain View company will also get the benefit of having an in-house manufacturing division for its smartphones.
Speaking about HTC, it is facing worst financial month in the last 13 years as the company’s revenue dropped by 51.5% from previous month, and by 54.4% from August last year. And HTC is the company which brought first Android smartphone called the G1. Moreover, the company also made devices such as Nexus One, Nexus 9, last year’s Pixels, and also don’t forget about the rumor which said the manufacturer of the upcoming Pixel 2.
It is worth to mention that this is not for the first time Google buying a smartphone company, it did buy Motorola back in 2012 but the company sold the Motorola smartphone to Lenovo by the end of 2014.
