If you recall, HMD Global or Nokia has launched their mid-range and budget range in India too late, when they started the sales of these phone especially Nokia 6, then many people lost interest in this. Last month when Nokia unveiled their flagship phone Nokia 8, we expected that the same will happen with this phone as well, in regards to India launch. But seems like Nokia don’t want to repeat the same, and today they made the Nokia 8 official in India.
Let’s starts with the specs of this phone, this Nokia 8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor which is clocked at 2.45Ghz coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. It sports a 5.3” IPS LCD Quad HD display with 554ppi and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The display has maximum brightness level of 700 nits. It has 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage, that can be expandable via MicroSd Card. Though 4GB RAM is enough with Snapdragon 835 but as it’s 2017 & we have flagships with 6GB of RAM & some with 8GB RAM, this phone was expected to come with 6GB of RAM. It packs a 3090mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 nougat out of the box with almost stock android experience, but the Android O for this device will come soon. It has all basic connectivity options like 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC.
If we talk about the camera, which seems one of the most highlighting point of this phone, this Nokia 8 comes with Carl Zeiss 13MP + 13MP Dual Rear Camera Setup. The 1st sensor is the colour sensor with OIS, while 2nd one is monochrome sensor from which we can take night photos with more details. There’s 1.12μm, f2.0 aperture, Phase Detect Auto Focus, laser autofocus and Dual Tone LED flash. On the front there’s 13MP camera with f2.0 aperture and 1.12μm along with Phase Detect Auto Focus. Nokia introduced their new Livestream technique named as Dual Sight. Through this we can Livestream from both front & rear camera at same time. There’s a 360° surround sound which will give a quality sound for quality 4K videos.
Now coming to the built of this phone, This Nokia 8 has a reflective metal body due to the layer of glass. There’s also IP45 certification from dust & splash resistance. On the front there’s earpiece, sensors, Nokia branding, and 13MP front camera. Below is the 5.3” display which is slightly curved as we all know. Then there’s fingerprint sensor embedded in home button, back & recent tab capacitive buttons are also situated there. On the top there’s 3.5mm headphone jack, and at the bottom USB Type C port, speaker grill, and main microphone is located. On the left there’s SIM card + MicroSd Card slot, and on the right volume rocker & power button. Coming to the back, it is made up of 6000 series aluminium with a layer of 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 on top. On the placement side there’s a Dual Camera Setup in vertical way along with Carl Zeiss branding, laser autofocus and Dual Tone LED flash. Below these the Nokia branding is situated.

So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally speaking Nokia has launched this phone at a very fair price. It will be a good competitor to OnePlus 5, the king of below 40k segment. So it would be interesting to see how the phone will perform and what response it will get from Indian consumers and reviewers. What are your thoughts on this phone ? Does this price justifies ?
