OpenAI is reportedly working on its first smartphone and now we got a new piece of information that says the first hardware product of the company will not be a smartphone but the device could be a screenless AI speaker that moves.
The upcoming device is also said to act as a personal companion and it will blend conversational AI with hardware that can move and interact more naturally. According to the report from Bloomberg, the device will feature a compact from factor and it will be a screenless smart speaker. The device is expected to come with a rechargeable battery, cameras, and onboard sensors that will enable the device to understand its surroundings and respond more intelligently.
It is also reported that the device will run on GPT-Live, OpenAI’s conversational voice technology that can listen and respond in real time. The device will be capable to carry out tasks such as controlling connected home devices, playing music, answering questions and reading messages. It is also reported that the device will gradually learn about its owner by accessing personal information.
The upcoming device is also said to being developed with help from former Apple executives, including members of Jony Ive’s LoveFrom design studio. The company is expected to launch the device in 2027.
