The popular chipset maker MediaTek has officially launched its latest and greatest Dimensity 9600 Pro and it is built on a 2nm process along with ARM’s C2 cores. The processor features the 2+3+3 CPU layout and it houses over 33 billion transistors.
It is capable to offer a 14% performance bump along with a 23% cut in power consumption compared to the 3nm process. The latest Dimensity 9600 Pro comes with a fourth-generation all-big-core setup of two C2-Ultra super-big cores clocked at 4.55GHz with 2MB of L2 cache each, three C2 Pro big cores at 4.35GHz with 1MB of L2, and three more C2 Pro cores at 3.10GHz with 512KB of L2.
The processor also features 16MB of L3 cache, and you get 34.5MB of total cache across the chip. The processor supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. It is worth mentioning that the new LPDDR6 can offer 33% higher performance than LPDDR5X, and UFS 5.0 doubles the speed of read and write speeds from dual-channel UFS 4.0.
MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 9600 Pro with a new GPU dubbed the G2-Ultra NX for the graphical task. It is said to provide 27% higher peak performance than the previous generation and reduced the power consumption by 24%. Ray tracing performance has increased by 18%, and the chip can now offer game frame rates as high as 185fps.
The processor also features the Imagiq 1290 ISP that can handle 4K recording at 240fps for slow-motion capture, and built-in H.266 hardware decoding. The processor also comes with a dual NPU setup including a 10th-generation high-performance NPU 1090 alongside a second-generation low-power NPU.
It also comes with the Generative AI Engine 3.0 that doubles INT4 computing power compared to its predecessor, and it will enable the processor to run mixture-of-experts models with up to 30 billion parameters and everything will be on-device.
The processor also features the Tianji Intelligent Computing Fusion Architecture that manages scheduling across the CPU, NPU, and memory as one system. So let’s wait for the smartphones with the power of the latest MediaTek flagship processor.
