Android 10 Released For Pixel Devices

As suggested earlier, Google today released the stable Android 10 for support devices. This is the 10^th edition of the Android ecosystem, and third without any dessert name. This version will focus more on privacy a bit more personalization. Few other OEMs also released the Beta version of Android 10 for their topmost models, but we will discuss that later. For now, let’s see what Android 10 brings to all Android fans.

• Better Privacy Control:

As said earlier, this update focuses more on user privacy. This Android 10 brings privacy features like GPS access control and controls for ads on web and apps. Users can give permission to any app to use GPS only when in use, not in the background. I think these options are not so flashy and attractive for most people, but for the privacy and security of our phone and data, these features are very important.

• Smart Action Reply:

Whenever we see or answer to any message from notification, we don’t get options like opening a link in a browser or in any specific app. Google has added this feature by smart action reply. This feature gives suggestion right in the notification to open any specific app or browser of the given link. Now users can open YouTube directly from the message directly from notification. This is a very handy feature.

• Dark Mode:

This is one feature which stock Android users wanted for so long while almost all other custom skins have this feature. Google finally listened to the fans and have Dark Mode with this new Android version. But this is not just ordinary dark mode, this is the system-wide dark mode for OLED displays. It means that this dark mode will stop generating black pixels and thus, will save battery on phones with OLED or AMOLED displays. As of now, it’s not available for all Google apps, but they will update those apps soon.

• New Navigation Gesture:

Google added Navigation Gesture with Android Pie last year, and this year also they continued it but changed the gestures. This time it will be more like iOS navigations. But on the basis of user experience in Developer Previews, these new gestures are not so comfortable as compared to the previous one. But as this is stable update, let’s see what Google will do with it.

• Live Caption:

As the name suggests, this feature brings captions for any video or audio played on the phone. This will use Google’s AI capabilities to understand the audio and give captions in real-time. We don’t know how well this feature will perform as of now, but in a few months, we will get our answers.

• Project Mainline:

This is a new project by Google which is one of the most useful features I personally like in Android 10. Through this project, Google is planning to provide urgent security patches to Android 10 devices directly from the Play Store. This will save time for OEMs to give the patch. Also as many people just don’t update their phone’s software, this will keep their phone’s security up to date. But do note that this feature won’t be available for devices upgrading to Android 10 from Pie. This will be available for those devices that will come out of the box with Android 10.

Furthermore, the latest Android 10 also includes improved Family Link, Sound Amplifier, as well as native support for the foldable display.

Some OEMs are rolling out Beta updates for Android 10, which includes brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi. Both OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro started to get Open Beta update of Android 10. Redmi K20 Pro is also supposed to get it soon.
