Since the introduction of Wi-Fi, we have been eagerly awaiting the Open Wi-Fi network to have some fun. But not all Open Wi-Fi networks are speedy to support thousands of users in public. Some of them are slower than our mobile data connection and Speedier than our browsing center Data connection.
To have a glimpse of the network speed, Google has been rolling out an update for Android 8.1 which lets the user find the speed of the Open WiFi network available. The speed label ranges from Slow to very fast depending on the available WiFi. Before connecting to the network, users will know the speed range of the Wi-Fi network and users will be provided the speed labels.
The speed labels are calibrated as follows,
- Slow = 0 – 1 Mbps: In this type of network, users can make calls and texts online.
- OK = 1 Mbps – 5 Mbps: Web pages are accessible and you can stream music.
- Fast = 5 Mbps – 20 Mbps: Maximum you can stream videos.
- Very Fast = 20 Mbps+: High qualities video streaming guaranteed.
These labels are quite useful for each user who wants to know the data speed of open Wi-Fi network.Devices running on Android 8.1 will get this updates soon.
