Google has just announced the advent of Android O by naming it as Oreo (v8.0). Like any other Operating system from Google, Android Oreo too packs in a lot of features onboard. One among the features is known as Rescue party which helps when your phone gets stuck on Bootloop.
Android 8.0 Oreo’s new feature essentially sends out a “rescue party” when system components are stuck in crash loops. While some users may not have heard of this issue, some users might be having nightmares with it. Bootloop may either be a software or a hardware issue. While it is almost impossible to fix hardware issues without the intervention of service centres, software issues can be fixed with the help of Rescue party. This not only averts the expense of fixing the phone but also saves the time.
“Android 8.0 includes a feature that sends out a ‘rescue party’ when it notices core system components stuck in crash loops. Rescue Party then escalates through a series of actions to recover the device. As a last resort, Rescue Party reboots the device into recovery mode and prompts the user to perform a factory rese”, Google explains.
Once a problem is detected, Rescue Party will activate itself, escalating to the next rescue level if it’s not resolved. Each level will take up to five minutes according to Google, and the hope is that the phone will be able to self-recover instead of requiring you to initiate a support inquiry through the manufacturer or carrier. Rescue Party is turned on by default in Android 8.0 Oreo, and no special hardware support is required.
This feature comes as a boon for those who have phones with Bootlooping issues. Not to mention, Android Oreo will be released to Google’s Pixel and Nexus devices first followed by other phones including the OnePlus 5/3/3T, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S7/S7 Edge.
